In recent years, new construction homes have become more prevalent in Boise due to the increase in the city's popularity and demand for houses. That said, Boise homes for sale have truly been built over dozens of decades. You'll see listings from as far back as the late 19th century all the way to this year, with pretty much every decade in between covered. The Boise Foothills include more than 180 miles of public trails that are ideal for hiking, jogging, and cycling. From Ridge to River, this is one of the best places to stay active outside in America. The Boise River Greenbelt, which runs through the middle of the city, allows residents to walk or cycle right along a beautiful river and enjoy a relaxing picnic in a series of parks along the way. You can also go rafting or kayaking along the river in the summer. As for the winter, the mountainous terrain near Boise provides great skiing and snowboarding opportunities up at the Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area.

Downtown Boise offers an increasing number of dining and cultural options to complement the variety of other small businesses in the area. You can visit the Boise Art Museum or learn about Boise's Basque heritage in the Basque Block or take in a show at the classic Egyptian Theatre. In fact, the theater and arts scene in Boise has grown quite a bit over the years, as has the brewery and craft beer scene. You can even wander along the Boise Ale Trail and visit over 200 breweries.

In general, the northern part of Boise is where you'll find plenty of character homes and gorgeous tree-lined residential streets. This is considered a very family-friendly and progressive part of the city. In the south is where you'll find more of a college crowd, as this is where Boise State University is located. During football season, much of the population packs the stadium to watch the Boise State Broncos play on their blue turf field. Boise is also home to several minor league pro sports teams, including the Idaho Steelheads hockey team, the Idaho Stampede for basketball, and the Boise Hawks Single-A baseball club.
